The Story Behind the Snyder Scriptorium

The Snyder Scriptorium is a growing home for books, writing, curiosity, and the stories that bring people together.

The Snyder Scriptorium grew from a long series of unexpected turns in my life. Writing was never really part of my original plan. For years, writing a book was simply something I had put on my bucket list—something I hoped I might eventually do, but never imagined would become much more than that.

For more than a decade, I worked in the hospitality industry, where I discovered a genuine passion for creating experiences for other people. I loved the atmosphere, the details, the creativity, and most of all, the feeling of giving someone an experience they would remember.

Eventually, though, I reached a point where I needed to either move forward in the industry or step away for a while. I experimented with starting my own food stand, but local laws and ordinances quickly made it clear that the investment required would be far greater than I could reasonably afford. Starting a restaurant from the ground up wasn't going to be practical either.

Life took me in another direction. I eventually partnered with my husband in the construction industry and became a general contractor. I love the work and everything that comes with it, but I still wanted something that was truly my own—something that allowed me to build toward a vision of my own.

Then I remembered that old item on my bucket list.

Writing.

I decided to give it a try.

What began as an experiment quickly became a hobby, and that hobby slowly grew into a passion. Before long, I realized that writing could become something much larger—something that could bring together my love of books, storytelling, creativity, and the hospitality experiences I had always dreamed of creating.

That is where the Snyder Scriptorium began.

Today, I am building the foundation of that vision through this website, the blog, and the books I am working toward writing. The online bookstore is another step in that journey. My goal is to grow the Scriptorium one piece at a time and reinvest what it earns into the larger vision.

And the final destination?

That part is still a secret.

I can tell you that the Snyder Scriptorium is meant to become something far beyond an online bookstore. It will eventually bring together books, stories, hospitality, atmosphere, and experiences in a way that I hope will be unlike anything else.
